Senator Praises Sony's Response to PSN Attack

This, is Democrat U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal. You may recognize him as the one Senator that had written Sony demanding they explain themselves for "lack of response" concerning the "PSN Crisis" (He really looks like he could be a really angry man). He was the one that insisted Sony offer identity theft insurance as well as free access to credit report checks for the next two years. Well, it seems Sony took that recommendation into consideration and delivered, in fact offering identity theft insurance up to $1 million dollars and users can check and monitor their credit reports up to 1 year. Does this Senator remain bitter toward Sony?
“Sony’s response to preventing similar attacks in the future could serve as a model for other companies facing similar criminal hacking....The crime perpetrated on Sony and PlayStation Network users is part of a larger troubling trend of cybercrime, and a reminder that our laws and data security resources must keep pace with advancing technology. I look forward to working with Sony and others in the future to determine the best way forward, and continue to urge the Justice Department to pursue the criminals who attacked Sony’s information system.”
It all sounds pretty good to me. Sony have been facing rough times over the last few weeks. The gaming community have been rather supportive for the most part concerning the attacks on a worldwide major corporation, among the largest, even its competition Microsoft feel for Sony and when given opportunities to really drive the stake through the heart, have opted to remain silent as the truth of the matter is simply that it could happen to anyone. Sony's security system was in fact toted as the most secure. If Sony's own security can be hacked, then nobody's safe.

The perpetrators like to be the group 'Anonymous' have yet to be found but, the search continues. Perhaps if you can find one man and take him in, skilled interrogation can force him to cough up the rest. We've certainly learned that the U.S. aren't keen to be threatened or picked at and certainly won't rest until they've succeeded. Cybercrime's have become a serious issue, even to the point that the FBI over the last few years have hired on additional agents to work in the prevention of cybercrime. Thus, its no surprise they would jump on such an opportunity to prove they can in fact act on their words and this is a great time to do it. Chances are, the two from Anonymous that suggested it was Anonymous are in fact the one Sony are looking for. Some in Psychological terms might call it "shifting the blame." This would draw the attention away from them buying more time for them to try to clean up their miss, yet one thing is always overlooked.

We look forward to the opening of PlayStation Network again in the next while and are eager to getting back to our InFamous 2 Beta, DC Universe Online and Uncharted 2.
