PlayStation Network Emerges Once Again

PlayStation Network has emerged once again some near three weeks following the attack on the PlayStation Network, Sony and its Users. Its been an extremely somber time filled with mixed emotions. Many of Sony's fans have turned on them and have blamed them for their losses with many speaking out in written articles and posts in anger and frustration with Sony. The media have taken their shots and perhaps even picked up a few readers through Sony's troubled times as if the disasters in the PlayStation's homeland weren't troubling enough.

On the flip side of that coin, many have been extremely supportive and understanding of Sony in their time of distress. They have been patient and willing to work with Sony and hopefully Sony really understands that of their supportive fans. That their customers and fans have been there and that Sony understands how much support they have from the gaming community and lasting impression they've made on the lives of their fans. That's its not just business. The attack simply wasn't just on Sony or its PlayStation, it was a disruption of Sony's customers and extortion of the private information of Sony's users. many gamers have understood that and hackers had better hope they don't confront Sony's fans or they may regret it. Whether Anonymous, I will dare say, are stupid enough to have at it again, nobody knows, though it may likely happen. However, the attack having made Sony more aware and acting on this attack, may show the hackers they may not want to attempt it a second time with Sony's console or any other. Sony however, have pretty much had to go at it alone. Neither Microsoft nor Nintendo have stepped in in support of Sony as a means of fighting console terrorism. Sony have had to go it alone and may continue to have to do so while others sit back in observation of how Sony will handle the issue and take note.

Moving on, Sony's very own Kaz Hurai had addressed users of Sony Services to discuss the return of PlayStation Network. What was interesting, is while others sat back watching, Hurai states that the "cyberworld will always be vulnerable to attacks," but we feel that Sony have stated that they have set the example for or as the state Senator had referred to Sony in great praise as "A role model" for how other companies can deal with such attacks. Sadly, Sony have had to suffer the negative press of being the first and again, going it alone with support of only some of their fans, but that the load will be lighter for others who may fall subject to this attack.

We have learned that certain area's are opening up at times goes on and that only a few services will be accessible through the PlayStation Network such as online gaming, Qriocity, Hulu, Netflix, Chat and PlayStation Home. Nothing has been said for the PlayStation Store just yet. What we do know is that when you're console attempts to access the PlayStation Network, it will require a software update and for you to change your user password. This causes us to wonder if the update that is manditory may in fact wipe out any jailbreak software PS3 users may have been using and may make Call of Duty more enjoyable for PS3 users, but that's just speculation of ours and not to be taken as fact. Please take a moment to check out the information in the link. There is another link you can click on to view a map of the US. If you're state is shaded, you have access to the PSN at the moment. Sony have stated that it may take several hours to reactivate PSN in all states and again ask for your patience.

We hope the search continues and the perps found and removed from the equation. Then perhaps we may be able to return to our lives and get back to gaming the way it had always been meant to be.

Kaz reminds PSN users that the 'Welcome back Package' is on its way and that Sony has listened and that their "actions will speak louder than words." Check out the link after the break.

We're definitely ready to get back on and get back to our Uncharted 2 Multiplayer, InFamous 2 Beta testing, hopefully, and start gearing up for the Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta. Thanks Kaz and all those who worked around the clock at and with Sony as well as all of their fans and supporters of gaming! For all things PlayStation Network, all things PlayStation and all things gaming keep checking back as we keep you inside the X-Gaming Zone here at the XZONE.
