Wow! Its already that time again! Time seems to really fly with so much going on. Its week before E3 which means that a week from now, we'll be updating you on the Console Wars just before we head into the biggest gaming expo of the year! and find out what all the biggest game developers have been up to for the past year. But, right now, we're looking back over the past week. The PlayStation 3 is reportedly passed 50 million units sold and still remains 3 million units behind the Xbox 360, still struggling in the US but dominating sales outside the U.S. The PlayStation 3 managed to pull off another stellar week and outside the competition once again. Strangely however, the Xbox 360 was bumped back to third and the Wii, upon the near eve of its successor, managed to outsell Microsofts console. But, this week, the our hats off to Sony for once again outselling over the past months. Its got some momentum going and we're trying to figure out exactly where that's coming from.
All the same, here are the latest numbers in the Console Wars:
PlayStation 3 131,437
Wii 129,646
Xbox 360 122,558
DS 101,955
PSP 84,791
3DS 79,932
We will say however, that we're a little disappointed, as Nintendo might be as well, in the sales of the 3DS. Hopefully E3 will get gamers a little more jazzed for the hardware and the sales may hopefully pick up or perhaps, Nintendo have discovered its far to overpriced for the game market they're trying to appeal to. Perhaps Nintendo will be forced into a price drop so early in the game to get out there and make some noise. This is unusual for Nintendo.
