The console wars continue. Microsoft posts a job description for a console engineer, Nintendo is rumored to announce its Wii 2 at or before E3 2011 and Sony has just cleared 50 million PlayStation 3 units with not so much as a sneeze of new hardware even mentioned and they're not slowing down thanks in part to Sony's gamble with Blu-ray technology. It was also reported that Sony has shipped 8 million Move motion controllers.
The PlayStation 3 is continuing to evolve. New functionality is added regularly and Sony is sticking to its ten year lifecycle. We've seen the addition of Netflix, Qriocity and 3D Blu-ray and gaming. It seems as though Sony is now poised to focus on their online products and services which we're likely to hear more about at the Sony E3 Press Conference this June.
