Madden...Football.... Lawsuit?

You know, usually when I think of the name 'John Madden,' or see a picture of him, I associate that with "Tough Actin Tinactin." Now I'll be dead honest with you, I didn't grow up in a family that worshiped football. When Superbowl time hit, I was the one in the front pue at church turning to see who wasn't there and at home worshiping football rather than their God, so this guy to me is only associated with an Antifungal foot cream, right? But that's it.

Well, now its seems that EA Sports is once again on the line. (This isn't the first time we've heard this... to some extent) It seems that another lawsuit has been brought up over the Madden name and development of NFL football games. I mean really, the last football game that came out that wasn't developed by EA Sports was Pro Evolution Soccer for the 3D.... Oh sorry, that's American Soccer, the rest of the world calls it 'Football.' No seriously, was a game I think was called 'Backbreaker.' Well, development companies want a piece of the pie. Football games in the States make a lot of money and companies like 2K Sports definitely know what they're missing out on, especially when most football fans preferred 2K Sports to EA Sports. It was that sort of threat that forced EA's hand and EA was seen as the bad guy, back in the day when Activision was the good guy. Development studios have been speaking out about the importance of competition. But, we all know better. Its really all about the Benjamins. Busineuh, us busineuh, right?

Well, now, its just gotten a whole lot funner. It seems that those who have purchased a football game from 2005 until now, are all part of a "class action lawsuit." Some of you may be getting an email about all of this, and what exactly does this all mean?

According to the law, if you do nothing and are a member of the class suit, you will be bound by the decisions of the case and can no longer have the option to sue the defendant, Electronic Arts. To do so you'll have to remove yourself from the class by requesting exclusion in writing to:

Electronic Arts Litigation Exclusion
P.O. Box 8090
San Rafael CA 94912-8090

We, my fellow gamers, live in a Sue-happy nation with a bunch of greedy businessmen trying to ruin it all for us just like the hackers as of recent. Sure, it'd be nice to have a choice and as a result see more in competitive development, but, I'm already living that as 2K Sports have lost their edge in the hockey world and lets face it, EA Sports does it better, with hockey, not sure on Madden, but I do have to admit I'm growing tired of seeing EA Sports branded on everything. At the Face-off line, on the clock. I mean, come on, EA purchased the ESPN name too, they could at least use it! So, best of luck to those of you who could get involved in this mess. We here at ThumbDrive X-Gamer Zone are rootin for you!
