The numbers are in again, at it seems for the third week in a row, the PlayStation 3 still remain's conqueror up on top. However, the Wii managed to draft up close to the Xbox 360 and pass it to lock in a spot at number 2 putting the Xbox 360 in third place. In the hand-held market, the Nintendo DS hadn't much competition and still remains the top seller. These are of course world-wide sales and the PlayStation 3 is still struggling to make itself totally at home in the States. Overall sales for consoles, the Wii still remains with a very comfortable and distant lead while the PlayStation 3 is still just behind the Xbox 360. Its appeal of free on line play and its powerful top of the line Blu-ray Player always to date are helping to close the gap and keeping it sitting at number one this week.
To my surprise, Crysis 2 was a no show in the overall top ten sellers overall. Even within the states. Pokemon Black/White. Wait, Homefront? Wow, took number two obviously outselling the PlayStation 3 version and then Killzone 3 is still riding the top five at number four. Lets take a look at the numbers all from VGChartz right here for you:
PlayStation 3 184,606
Xbox 360 157,241
Wii 160,848
DS(i) 193,239
PSP 86,962
The 3DS continues to sell in Japan and at pretty good numbers at 65,894, but those numbers rise pretty high with the release of the 3DS here in the States. We can look forward to hearing its numbers in the coming week. For now, congratulations PlayStation 3 on all your success!
