Easily one of the most anticipated titles of the year, Gears of War is coming exclusively to Microsofts console and what's even more awesome, is that you can pre-order your copy of the game, yesterday!
Unless you've been living under a rock the past four years, Gears of War is ready to hit Microsofts console confirmed for a 20 September release date of this year after its delay of winter 2010 to April 2011 and now to fall of 2011 to "allow more time to polish the game up." - Design Director and Father of the Xbox 360 version of GoW Cliff Bleszinski stated. That's amazing news! What's even more awesome is that a few weeks ago at Bulletstorms release, many were able to hold the software in their hands that allow them to curb-stomp some locust in the Multi-Player Beta. (I call it an early demo, as I have my reasons)
Curb-Stomp some Locust this April
It was revealed by Senior Producer Rod Ferguson that Gears of War 3 would be available exclusively to Xbox 360 gamers and that you could gain access to the Gears of War beta through purchasing the Xbox 360 version of Bulletstorm. The game would then include a voucher with a code that you would redeem online granting you access so long as you still had the game disc. (So don't throw out those game discs yet.) The beta would be playable through the Bulletstorm home menu and include two multi-player modes and some unlockables that could transfer to the full version of the game including the Gears of War 3 version Gold Lancer that would normally come packed most likely with the Limited Edition Gears of War 3. (Does that mean we're only getting an Art Book as additional to the game and steel case?)
So, what about those of us that didn't really get into the whole Bulletstorm idea or purchased it for another platform? Is there still a way for us to reserve a seat at the grand table to partake of such awesomeness? Definitely! Epic seems to have a soft spot for the largest video-game retailer in the world and the only other way to gain access, at the moment, to the beta is to pre-order your copy at your local GameStop. No Amazon, no Target, not even Walmart and sadly no Play-N-Trade. Never-the-less you can pre-order whichever edition you want and receive an email and 'Gear Up' for the Multi-Player release on 18 April 2011. So what are you waiting for? Get off your can and get it pre-ordered, watch for the games release on 20 September 2011 and keep checking back to the X-Gamer Zone for all the latest news on Gears of War 3 and other gaming news.
