Epic Games to Announce New IP At VGA's This Weekend (3DS, PC, PS3, VITA, Wii, XBOX)

According to GameTrailers.com recent post today, it appears that Design Director Cliff Bleszinski will be at the Spike VGA's this weekend on Saturday the 10th on Spike TV and gametrailers.com to announce Epic Games newest IP and he says that  its "An entirely fresh, new experience." Something Epic Games has never done before that won't take place in the Gears or Infinity Blade worlds.

Now, this is where the speculation begins to start to roll in. It's entirely unclear exactly which platform Epic Games will be developing this new IP on. It doesn't take place in the Gears of War universe, which even though we know Epic Games owns the IP for the Gears franchise, still may as well be Microsoft's property anyway. It's not Infinity Blade that's pretty much synonomous with iOS devices and still has yet to see the light of day on an Android device, which Epic Game's really don't seem to be too fond of being as open a platform as it is. It pretty much seems to eliminate exclusivity to Xbox 360 or iOS devices. So, will Epic Games continue their infatuation with Microsoft and the Xbox 360 and develop another exclusive for the Xbox 360? Will they develop something that's more like a Freemium sort of game for Facebook users? Or will Epic Games really not have much to do with the game at all and will outsource the project to People Can Fly and Bleszinski will again become the 'Creative Uncle?'

"I hate that #&*!ing controller!" - Cliffy B.

Does such an opinion still ring true for the Design Director of the famed 'Gears of War' franchise whom has played several games on the PlayStation 3? Has he warmed up to the fact that PS3 has a lot of untapped potential in its sandbox that he can take the time to play around in? Has his love for Miyamoto and his inspiring nature moved upon the Design Director to take a crack at development on the Wii? Could it be Epic Games first attempt at showing Nintendo some love on the Wii U? Unless the rest of the Epic team are working on a new Gears of War game for Kinect, they've got to be given something to do.

We have also learned that Cliff Bleszinski's interest in the direction Bethesda have taken gaming has really caught his eye with games like Oblivion and Fallout 3 and that perhaps Epic Games may choose to go in that direction instead.

Ah, the possibilities are endless and thus we wonder 1) What type of game will it be? 2) How much of a role does this Design Director have in development of the game? 3) Will Epic Games themselves even develop the game or will they pass the project along to say People Can Fly to develop the game and then claim it as an Epic Games multiplatform game. 4) Have all bias' been set aside and the game becomes multiplatform? I guess we'll find out come Saturday at 8/7c on Spike TV.
