Microsoft Xbox 360: Why So Many Itterations of the Same Thing Microsoft?

I couldn't help but notice the variation of consoles on the market these days. Its no longer Sony's PlayStation 3 vs Nintendo's Wii vs Microsoft's Xbox 360. No, its Sony's PlayStation 3 vs Nintendo's Wii vs Microsoft's Halo: Reach Xbox 360 vs Microsoft's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Xbox 360 vs Microsoft's Gears of War 3 Xbox 360 vs the now announced Microsoft's Tomb Raider Xbox 360. All that we really have to say about this is that we believe that factually, Microsoft is getting desperate to sell Xbox 360's. We know that the PlayStation 3 has been sneaking up on the Xbox 360 and to date is not just weekly outselling the Xbox 360, but is month after month outselling the Xbox 360. Is Microsoft afraid of taking third place in this generation of consoles? We would like to think that is the case.

Now, we know that it really seems like we're picking on the Xbox 360 here but, really, when Nintendo markets a Wii, it doesn't necessarily have Mario on the Wii or Zelda on another. Nintendo has left that up to third-parties to develop console skins. While Sony on the other hand, much like Nintendo just bundles a game with the hardware. These consoles for Nintendo and Sony aren't designed to sell more consoles, they're designed to draw in the fanbase from the competition and generally are bundles with titles exclusive to their consoles. Sony, still remains in third place this generation and are probably about 3 million behind Microsoft's consoles but, they need to get out of third place and bundle games and make deals that sell their console to get them ahead. This Xbox 360 doesn't even come with a game! (Yet)

In short, we feel that Microsoft is taking this a little to seriously. Skins like Nintendo does, that's cool, shoot even the face-plates that were used on the old Xbox 360 were stellar! I had all the Gears of War plates but, why do we have to buy a new Xbox 360 everytime we want a different or customized look for our Xbox 360. Are there still gamers out there that are planning to buy an Xbox 360 that don't already have one? Kinect is marketed heavily to my mother but, my mother doesn't want Lara Croft on an Xbox 360, if she had one. Come on Microsoft, you can do better.
