Cliffy B. Getting Desprite For Gears of War 3 Sales and Will 3 Be the End?

With the launch of Gears of War 3 just under a month away. We've heard the news that Gears of War 3 has been pressed and is prepping to ship to retailers throughout the country and whatever country that will accept it, it would seem. Germany must be excited though, that's like having heard that Gears of War 3 will be coming to PS3. It almost like, "what's the point when I have no idea what's going on in the back-story, right?" We seen photo's of a giant retro-lancer cutting a cake and the developers stuffing their faces. But, how are Epic Games themselves feeling at this moment or more particularly, their Design Director?

Flipping through the incoming messages posted through Twitter and Facebook, there were a lot of messages from Noodles, of The Offspring, that are entertaining as always as well as several posts by Cliff Bleszinski and I'm sensing some worry. News has popped up in several instances of Gears of War 3 and Uncharted 3. Though so many would think Gears of War 3 would be far more talked about, its quite the opposite actually. Uncharted has been building momentum since Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and several gamers have been voicing not only that they're looking forward to Uncharted 3 and its engaging story (no pun intended), but looking forward to the game experience overall. Bleszinski seemed nervous as Naughty Dog were sniffing (again, no pun intended) around his beta. He told them to get back to work. But, his posts via Twitter however have him talking about the costs of games. Is purchasing a game these days really that much more expensive than in days of old?

His posts via Twitter began with what he paid back in his time for NES and SNES games. (Really, dude? You didn't have a Sega? I thought the Genesis was the all American gaming console?) Then he compared those to today's prices stating that it's not due to inflation, unlike movie ticket prices. He went on to talk about that change in relation to buying used games. Something Freudian about the sales of your games?

We've also heard that Gears of War is coming to an end and that if sales are good enough, we could see another. The fact of the matter is, so long as Xbox is around, Gears of War is a necessary. Xbox needs Gears of War in its slump time of lack of exclusives whiles Sony's PlayStation 3 continues to gain momentum. Lets face it, the skeptical minds at Microsoft had no faith in 3D waiting for Sony and Nintendo to invest all the money in all the advertising and marketing while Microsoft does what it does best. Sit back and wait. Now, several weeks before the game is pressed, Producer Mark Ferguson announces 3D support for Gears of War 3 and we've also heard that not only will the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved receive an HD makeover, but that the game will now be in stereoscopic 3D. Microsoft are now including 3D support in their first-party (yes we dare call Gears of War a first-party game as they pretty much develop only for Xbox 360 anymore). So we can expect to see plenty more Gears of War for the next while, while Microsoft works themselves out of their current funk.

Gears of War releases on store shelves and at several locations at Midnight Launch on 20 September 2011. Curb stomp some locust and ship their brains back to their mothers. We're tired of stomped on and its time to silence these beasts once and for all. So keep checking back for all things Locust, all things Gears of War, all things Xbox 360 and all things gaming as we keep you inside the X-Gaming Zone here at the XZONE.
