Metal Gear Solid HD/ Zone of the Enders Confirmed and Also on Xbox 360

Suspicions were confirmed today by Konami who announced that Metal Gear Solid would be getting the HD Remake treatment. However, in a few ways, it wasn't what anyone had expected. We'll get the biggest out of the way first and foremost.

Microsoft have never been big on getting HD Remakes of games while Sony have been taking whatever they can get. It seems that Microsoft really know the value of Metal Gear Solid and are capitalizing on the good impression they've apparently made on Hideo Kojima. And its not making PlayStation gamers or Kojima fans very happy. (More on that later) Yes, it is confirmed that the Metal Gear Solid HD Remake will be making its way to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The HD remake collection will include Metal Gear Solid 2: Guns of the Patriots and the formerly PlayStation 2 exclusive, which is now coming to 3DS and Xbox 360 Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. What's more, Microsoft have fired back a shot at Sony for taking their games labeled "Only On Xbox 360" going for the throat taking the "Only On PlayStation" exclusive Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. This has been an announcement with mixed emotion for PlayStation gamers and Hideo Kojima has always been partial to his PlayStation fans. What exactly has caused this turn of events is unclear. The only way we can think to describe it is lots and lots of $$$$$.

What we didn't expect was that Metal Gear Solid didn't make the cut as getting an HD remake. Not even a remake of Twin Snakes. The HD version will get Trophy and Achievement support as well as use of the right analog stick. Further more, the Cloud Save system Sony have included with PlayStation Plus and that Microsoft are set to unveil at E3 will allow, for PlayStation gamers anyway, the ability to transfer game saves from Peace Walker PS3 to PSP and vice versa.

To finish things off, the formerly PlayStation 2 exclusive Zone of the Enders will also be seeing an HD Remake, and will be shipping on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It would seem that Hideo Kojima has had a change of heart and really does want to appeal to the Western Gamer by taking his games from his homeland console and placing it on the American console.

All said and done, Zone of the Enders was totally unexpected yet all gamers rejoice. What will we see next? Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots 5 Disc Version comes to the Xbox 360? Only time will tell.
