InFamous 2 as you already know isn't far off at just a few weeks. Reviews have been posted left and right due to the fact the game will be releasing at one of the busiest days of the year in gaming industry during the week of E3 more specifically 11 June and we couldn't be more excited.
Its incredibly difficult for me to get into super-hero type game. Spiderman never appealed to me, Superman were basically the same way and the Batman games prior to Batman: Arkham Asylum were disasters and even Batman: Arkham Asylum felt a little claustrophobic and a bit monotonous that didn't really seem to meld well with me and when you bring controls and responsiveness into the picture, it was a fun game but had its issues. InFamous however, was a super-hero game unlike any I had ever played. It was a wide open-world game allowing you to go wherever and do whatever. You would run along and spot someone in trouble and blast in "guns blazing" as their savior or, leave them to their doom and move on to something else. I found I had even had those Batman or Superman moments standing on top the highest point in the city looking over those whom you protect. It was an extremely memorable super-hero gaming experience where you really felt that way. I would go about taking out villains and some of the people would love me but others would look at me differently and blame their problems on my presence within the city. Its was great. I actually felt like a Super-Hero.
InFamous 2 is going to be very much so similar to InFamous however taking place in New Maria, a New Orleans sort of setting, and will feature all of the decision based actions determining your moral standing. Will you be the Hero, or live long enough to find yourself become the villain. Its all up to you. We're confident InFamous 2 will surpass its predecessor and give and greater and grander gaming experience. Melee combat is something we're definitely looking forward to smacking our enemies around with a King Sized Cattle Prod. We've even found ourselves asking "Well, in InFamous on our first playthrough, we were the good guy, perhaps in Infamous 2 something happens and Cole becomes infamous rather than the famed super-hero he was in the original. And we think that because we can do that. To some extent, we determine how the story goes and fill in the blanks as the game goes as to why such a renowned super-hero so great and grand has craved this lust for power and corruption and what drives him too it? Perhaps in InFamous Cole fell to the vicious uncaring and 'cast out leper-type' situation driving him to turn on those he would have protected but, perhaps in InFamous 2, there's something that has shaken him and has brought him to a realization of what's right. His conscience or inner-light have awaken him to how things really are and how much a world really needs him and this evolution of powers not only helps him save a dying city, but those choices bring about new feeling and those powers help him overcome himself through helping others and he as a person changes. We look forward to watching how the story will unfold and what sort of hero Cole becomes in the end.
We're also excited for that user generated content Sony is quickly becoming so renowned for beginning with LittleBigPlanet, working its way to ModNation Racers and on to InFamous and we love that sense of control and creation. What little time we were able to spend playing through the Beta had really gotten us excited for what we could create as well as play through a slew of stages developed by fellow gamers. Its seems the PSN outtage hadn't effected the overall polish that UGC but we look forward to it.
We're excited to get our hands on the Hero Edition complete with Cole statue as well as the editions additional content. And we hate to do or say such a thing in the wake of Sucker Punch's big release, but we're extremely excited anticipating holding that Beta Code in our hands, even though we realize we're going to have to wait two long weeks to download and jump into the Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta and sink endless hours on it and even play through check out the games performance using 3D.
Again, InFamous 2 launches June 11 during the E3 which is going to make things difficult for us indeed, never-the-less, you make time.
