PSN Services This Week/ PSN Returns This Month

Well, it would seem that PlayStation Network will be up and running this week as promised. Or at least as much of it as can be but it appears that we will finally be able to get back online and getting gaming through multiplayer once again and have more time with the InFamous 2 Beta.

It seems that Sony have brought on its own Security Team devoted to nothing by monitoring PlayStation Network. It seems Sony will restoring PlayStation Network by region, if we understand that correctly. Sony also spoke of its "Welcome Back" program that you can and probably ought to check out. It seems that Sony so far will be offering one month free PlayStation Plus and Qriocity to its current subscribers as well as all PlayStation Network Users.

Upon re-entering the PSN, you will be required to use a new password for your account linked to your PS3 that account existed on or linked to a verified email address. Sony also asks you to continue to watch your credit scores and be aware of what's going on in that area and Sony has stated they are considering replacement for affected users. Which, none have surfaced yet.

Sony's Kaz Harai had mentioned the group 'Anonymous' as having attacked the PlayStation Network and releasing personal info about executives and family members. Sony will cooperate with law enforcement and other organizations to secure data and ensure safety. Sony has also agreed to work with those that wish to cancel their services.

We'll see how things go and hopefully this will all come to a swift close and we can get back on with our lives. What's most important now, is that things are being done to help the situation and the point of this post is that PlayStation Network will be available next week with these services:

  • Restoration of Online game-play across the PlayStation®3 (PS3) and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) systems -This includes titles requiring online verification and downloaded games

  • Access to Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3/PSP for existing subscribers

  • Access to account management and password reset

  • Access to download un-expired Movie Rentals on PS3, PSP and MediaGo

  • PlayStation®Home

  • Friends List

  • Chat Functionality

More of the PlayStation Networks services will surface sometime later this month. Exact dates as to these have not yet been confirmed. We'll let you know as soon as we do.
