After many, many weeks of its reign at the top, the PlayStation 3 has relinquished its sword at the feet of the Xbox 360 this week. Possibly due to the bad publicity of the PlayStation Network? Its a possibility. Well, its only about 2,000 behind so for bad publicity, its doing alright. All the same, the Xbox 360 takes its place at the top this week. Could it be due to the Gears of War 3 Beta release this week? Copies of Bulletstorm in my hometown for Xbox 360 were sold out! But can Gears of War 3 really carry anymore units? (Not including consoles affected by red ring of death) Are there that many still that don't have an Xbox 360 that are going to shell out the cash for Epic Games latest edition to the series? In handhelds, its really no surprise really. The DS has dominated in handheld sales taking its rightful spot back up at the top the 3DS has actually dropped and Nintendo says they're concerned with the lack of sales for the 3DS, to their expectations. The PSP continues to fall as most are likely waiting for news on the NGP. Depending on how it fairs this E3 depending on price and lauch software, the PSP could plummet altogether or could surge in sales. We'll see. Anyway, here's what we're looking at in the console wars:
Xbox 360 154,486
PlayStation 3 152,039
Wii 119,800
DS 131,701
3DS 115,660
PSP 70,811
