Sony Boycott Fails Member Buys Sony Bravia

Well, it turns out that 'Anonymous' (a hacking and what I'd like to call a Cyber-Terrorist community that wishes to make Sony's life a nightmare by tampering with the PS3's hardware and online services) was set to have a boycott this weekend. They would stand outside Sony Stores and tell customers not to buy anything Sony as part of a threat issued to Sony over the whole Linux removal of the PlayStation 3 that George Hotz had begun and Sony let go after slapping him on the wrists for destroying their PlayStation 3 security. This boycott seemed to actually work to Sony's advantage as one boycott member reportedly went home with a Sony Bravia that day. Can we say Epic fail? One member, according to VGChartz had stated that he'd shown up, didn't have the mask the boycott group would use and had no ink to print off fliers. He went to various stores in Southern California to find nobody was even there. He even tried to convince others alone and surely people just looked at him like he was some mental patient. "What are you kidding man? Sony is notorious for quality. Of course I'm going to buy Sony."

Looks like its back to the drawing board Anonymous. Now nobody will take you seriously and it seems you'll be going back to the tampering in your dead grandmothers garage drinking Shasta and typing away until you have carpal-tunnel. We can all point our fingers and laugh.

The truth is, this is a group that's dedicated to making an entire gaming comminities online gaming experience a nightmare. An attack that's supposed to be on Sony is instead affecting their fellow gamers over the removal of a simple program and George Hotz getting busted for breaking the law. That's it. This effects everyone. The Wii has been suffering from hardware cracks and pirating software, the PC for years and even the Xbox 360. Its an effort the gaming community and even the big three need to come together on and put their resources together swallowing their pride and fighting piracy. You can help to by reporting those that are system modding making your online gaming experience a lot more fun and a lot more fair.
