Rumor: PS3 Will See God of War IV

I really don't even want to call this a rumor because the fact of the matter is, that God of War is due for another appearance on the PlayStation 3. Its abundantly clear that Sony Santa Monica surely has their hands full helping David Jaffe and Eat, Sleep, Play with Twisted Metal, cause Jaffe said Sony and Santa Monica were helping him with incredible support, so how does Santa Monica Studios have time? Well, it seems that they do.

Really, this should come as no surprise to anyone. God of War has had great success on the PlayStation hardware and I don't see it slowing down. The real question is, where is it headed next? Is it going to the rumored and talked about Norse mythology? I'm willing to bet that for the first time in God of War history as well, that Stig Asmussen will be Design Director once again. Jaffe did God of War, Corey Barlog did God of War II, Ru Weersuriya did God of War: Chains of Olympus and Dana Jan for God of War: Ghost of Sparta. Stig will be the first to break that cycle.

When God of War: Ghost of Sparta was released, there was bonus content with the game and one was a downloadable video. In this video, all of the design directors of the God of War franchise were gathered together and asked questions concerning the franchise and their thoughts, post mortem. The host asked Stig if there would be another God of War. Stigs reply was:

"We have ideas we're talking about for another God of War so there could potentially be, but we have no announcements for another God of War at this time."

In the end, Sony has had a pattern and They seem to still be following that pattern. InFamous came bundled with an Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Multi-player Beta Code and Uncharted 2 was released two years after Uncharted : Drakes Fortune. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was announced on Spike TV. At Sony's 2009 E3 Press Conference, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves opened with single player campaign and closed with a video of God of War III. We are now in the year 2011. It has been two years since Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was released, Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception was again announced on Spike TV at the Spike Video Game Awards, an Uncharted 3 Multiplayer demo has just been announced to be bundled with InFamous 2, once again coming out in June, and at E3, we're guaranteed to see "More Uncharted single player action." Uncharted 3 will launch this November again as well so therefore, Sony's 2011 E3 Press Conference will open with Uncharted 3, and Sony will surprise us with a God of War IV teaser trailer. (Well, it won't be a surprise now dangit and PSM3 Magazine just broke the news and the secret is out disguised as rumor.

Sony isn't about to let the throne of Olympus fall to Microsoft's upcoming Crytek and Xbox 360 Exclusive Codenamed: Kingdoms, whose trailer followed suit to Sony Santa Monica's God of War III announcement and will feature gladiatorial combat that will likely be as God of War is. Lets face it, Microsoft are desperate to gain some exclusives and win some fan support to combat the opposing competition with plenty of experience and strength but, I guess if you can't beat them, clone them. So plan to to hear more on God of War IV this E3 here in just a few short months and likely moe on Codenamed: Kingdoms. A day we can hardly wait for just can't come soon enough!
