Gears of War Finally Coming to PS3 and NGP!

That's right! You're finally seeing it and there is cheering in the streets! PS3 Fanboys can finally stick it in the faces of the Xbots that PS3 fans have finally sawed off the final limb of their gaming brethren on the other side of the fence. That's right, you've just read it with your own eyes, GEARS OF WAR IS FINALLY COMING TO THE PS3! But not only the PS3, but the NGP as well.

If you can remember back far enough to GDC, Tim Sweeney made his appearance on stage in Tokyo, Japan and announced that Epic Games would be developing for the NGP and later Vice President Mark Rein had stated the NGP was perfect for a Gears of War type game. But, what about the similarity of the NGP and PS3? You might also recall a statement of this nature as well:
"Do we wish we could take all those Killzone [players] and Resistance fans on PS3, and get them to say 'Gears is awesome'? Yeah, sure I'd love to ship the Gears trilogy on PlayStation. That would be fun. I want to be there; I want to be everywhere."
"Time and time again, when it came down to figure out what we do next with Gears, we sat down with Microsoft and they've given us really good, compelling reasons to work with them again."

Well, it seems as though Sony had a compelling reason of their own to work with them and it was the NGP. Design Director Cliff Bleszinski and father of Gears of War, had even stated he was impressed with the NGP saying:

"[Sony NGP] makes an entire genre doable on a handheld," Bleszinski told CVG. "I love iOS, but the twin stick shooters on touch screens do not work. I bought the little stick-on analogue sticks [for iPad] and they kind of work, but it still isn't quite the same.

"They have a better shot than they would have on a touch screen device by having those mini-dual analogue sticks. I haven't played Killzone or Resistance on PSP or anything like that, but I think the potential is there [on NGP]. It's up to developers to make it shine by making the appropriate trade-offs with controls."
Bleszinski apparently was the big hang-up within Epic and Gears of War, much like the father of Metal Gear Solid was with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The biggest difference of course being Cliff's disliking of the Dualshock 3 and his passion for the Xbox 360. "Man, I hate that $#@!ing controller... but I love the blu-ray player." Also following Uncharted 2: Among Thieves release, Cliffy B. had posted on his Twitter the love for the game and most recently shot a photo he posted on his Twitter talking about Killzone 3.

It was simply a matter of talking with Bleszinski and explaining to him there's another world out there other than Xbox 360 and that just as much fun can be had developing for a console and expanding your fanbase, not to mention Epics growth in faith due to uprising PS3 sales. So, what does this have to do with Gears of War PS3 and NGP? Well, its coming to both!

The information that was leaked was an announcement similar to Gabe Newell's that was planned at this years 2011 Sony E3 Conference. Though Gears of War 3 won't be seeing the PlayStation 3 until latter, due to deal's Epic has with Microsoft, the release date above is actually the scheduled and leaked release for the Triple Pack Gears of War but will all be on a single Blu-ray disc. It seems Cliffy B. is extremely excited to venture out on new ground since Unreal Tournament 3. When he was asked what changed his mind, he stated that it was the rise of strong First-Party exclusives he wanted to compete with, blu-ray, the NGP and Bulletstorm. So congratulations to all of you PlayStation 3 gamers. You'll be seeing Gears of War coming to PS3 this fall and likely Gears of War 3 and Gears of War NGP next Spring or next Summer.

By-the-way, just so I don't get slapped with a law suit for angering fans that trashed their Xbox 360 in rage from reading this, Happy April Fools Day!
