Xbox 360 Getting New Disc Format

I'm still going to stick to my belief that Microsoft is doing something more with this new disc format. To me, it seems far to bizzare that Microsoft would put so much emphasis on something so tiny. For me, it seems it should be something far more grand. Never-the-less, some additional information has surfaced to cause even more speculation on exactly what Microsoft has planned still, only they know.

Digital Foundry is speculating that this update to the dashboard will allow for only 1GB of storage to game discs. One gigabyte doesn't really seem like a whole lot of storage space. What are they going to do with it? Games can be 1/5 the size of of what Blu-ray is capable of. Why make such a big deal of it Microsoft?
